Asheville Police Apprehend Minor with Stolen Gun

Asheville -- August 3, 2023: Due to community complaints and recent aggravated assaults, Asheville Police Department officers and detectives were conducting crime prevention in the neighborhood of Lee Garden Lane yesterday.

According to APD,  a minor was found with a stolen Ruger LCP.380 ACP pistol.
After an investigation, they discovered that the pistol was taken from a car in West Asheville on March 4th of this year. The Charge Officer is collaborating with the Department of Juvenile Justice to file petitions for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

The juvenile was not arrested and was instead released to their parents.
