Canton Man Charged in Mail Theft

CANTON,NC - The Canton Police Department announces the arrest of Martin Ryan Gibson, age 27, of Canton, NC. Gibson was arrested on the evening of July 10, 2018 in connection with several incidents involving theft of mail.

Gibson was located by investigators and found to be in possession of several stolen items, including personal checks, government identifications, and other financial related documents which were sent through the mail to local residents. Investigators are continuing to investigate and attempting to locate individuals who may not be aware they are victims, with more charges pending. Gibson was arrested and booked into the Haywood County Jail on felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. Gibson bond is set at $10,000.00
