Transylvania Rescue Team Save Child from Rising Waters at Looking Glass Falls

Transylvania County --  July 23, 2025: Transylvania County Rescue Squad, Transylvania County Emergency Medical Services, Brevard Fire Department, and the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a call at the base of Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah National Forest. 

A child swam to the far side of the falls and within just a few minutes the river rose with flash flooding from the rain earlier today. Due to the swift and quickly rising water, the child was left stranded on the other side.

Two Swift Water Technicians to the base of the falls. Using a tether, we were able to reach the uninjured child and bring them back to safety.
