Waynesville -- The Waynesville Public Art Commission serves as the stewards and visionaries of the public art that unites
the collective consciousness

of our vibrant town in the North Carolina mountains.

MISSION

The mission of the Waynesville Public Art Commission is “to engage the community and enrich public spaces through original art that celebrates Waynesville’s historic, cultural, natural and human resources.”

Explore the Waynesville Public Art Trail, a self-guided tour of outdoor art celebrating the cultural heritage and natural wonders of the Southern Appalachians in the heart of Western North Carolina.

The Waynesville Public Art Trail meanders through three distinct downtown districts with a bonus audio tour and family scavenger hunt. Along the way, you’ll find unique art galleries, boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, breweries and plenty of shady benches.

The self-guided tour of 17 public art pieces takes two to three hours by following the walking tour outlined here. Or,  explore the trail in sections using the interactive map.

Waynesville’s public art contributes to our collective identity, highlights our unique sense of place, and creates beauty in our public spaces. We invite you to explore, ponder, and reflect on the shared experience of public art.

Explore the Waynesville Public Art Trail from end-to-end with the self-guided tour below and connect with the people, culture and history of our vibrant Southern Appalachian town along the way.

Dive a little deeper with this interactive scavenger hunt that accompanies the trail, with questions paired to each art piece.
