National Night Out in Sorrells Street Park in Canton on August 7th from 5pm – 9pm

Haywood County Fair: Aug 22-26. Haywood County Fair Grounds. The fair opens officially on Thursday. However, carnival and rides are open on Wednesday Aug 23rd with free parking. Variety of animals, produce, craft exhibits & rides. Livestock and horse shows, Tractor and Truck Pulls, new this year a Lawn Tractor Pull. Chainsaw carving and other craft demonstrations. Farm Animal Viewing Zoo. Kids day on Saturday with many special events and activities for children. Your typical county fair to bring the community together in celebration of Community. FREE Screening of the Documentary “Sustainable: Aug 23: 2-4p at the Waynesville Branch of the Haywood County Public Library. This documentary is a vital investigation of the economic and environmental instability of America’s food system, from the agricultural issues we face — soil loss, water depletion, climate change, pesticide use — to the community of leaders who are determined to fix it. Sustainable is a film about the land, the people who work it and what must be done to sustain it for future generations. This is what a farming documentary should be!- Documentary Drive. If you are interested in the future of agriculture, don’t miss a chance to view this powerful documentary in the company of others and join the conversation. Will be followed by informal discussion. Raymond Fairchild’s Bluegrass Jam: August 25 @ 6p hosted by Maggie Valley Opry and held at Elevated Mountain Distillery. Please bring your own chair and enjoy the music and Mountain Clogging. Food Truck on site. Kid friendly. Everyone welcome.
