Blaring bagpipes, astounding athletes, delicate dancers, rocking Celtic music and a spectacular highland setting make this colorful celebration of Scottish culture one of the most highly acclaimed highland games in the country.

Operated and organized by Grandfather Mountain Highland Games Inc., the biggest event in the High Country each year runs the second weekend of July, Thursday through Sunday. The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and Gathering of Scottish Clans, held in MacRae Meadows at the base of Grandfather Mountain, features plenty of bagpipes, Scottish athletics, Highland melodies, Celtic cuisine, crafts aplenty and tons of tartans.
Admission to the Highland Games is not available through this website or the park’s Entrance Gate. See a full list of events and buy tickets online at the GMHG website. You may also purchase same-day tickets at the Games’ entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.
Grandfather Mountain’s attractions, including the Mile High Swinging Bridge, Wilson Center for Nature Discovery and hiking trails, remain open during the Highland Games – accessible with our regular admission ticket.
