Join us for a FREE celebration of our conservation heritage!
Interactive Demonstrations | Archery | Falconry | Food Trucks | Giveaways | Lumberjack Team Demonstration | Vendors | Backyard Bass activity
Haywood Community College and the NC Wildlife Commission are working to put together a conservation celebration with all this and more to recognize National Hunting and Fishing Day.
All activities are free!
Confirmed vendors and demonstrations include:
Fish printing at the millhouse
Ducks Unlimited
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation - Great Smoky Mountains Chapter
HCC Wildlife Club
Great Smoky Mountains National Park Oconaluftee Visitor Center

Outdoor-related craft stations

Vendors and demonstrators will be around the Hemlock building and at the J.M. West Center.
Look for the variety of tents.
Food Trucks on campus include Ben's Backdraft BBQ, Kettle Corn, and Frozen Josie's Ice Cream Truck.

Fishing Tournament: 11:00am - 2:00pm
Falconry Presentations: The Art of Falconry.
Explore the questions of what falconry is and what it is not and how it relates to hunting and conservation in today’s world. Falconry  is an ancient art that has captivated people for thousands of years in many cultures worldwide. It offers unique opportunities to experience the beauty, power, and intensity that raptors embody, but it is not simple to achieve. In fact, falconry requires a level of dedication and commitment.
Presentations will be held inside the Auditorium.
Lumberjack Team Demo
The HCC Lumberjack Team will be demonstrating their skills as they prepare for their upcoming intercollegiate competition.
Presentations will be at the JM West Center on campus.
 
Kids Fishing Tournament
The Warrior Clan is bringing back their annual Kids FREE Fishing Tournament.
Age groups 7-12 and 13-18 will be able to fish in the pond at HCC with a catch and keep style tournament. Each age group can accommodate 50 children with fishing times at 9am and 1pm.
All participants must pre-register. Simply call Mike at 828-593-9866
