What's The Word? Words of Christmas Past!

What's The Word? Well, since it's Christmas Time, thought it would be fun to look at words from Christmas that are no longer used!

How about Hogamadog? Toe-cover? Snerdle? or Drachenfutter?

Hogamadog – To me, it sounded like something you'd eat! Yes, I'll take a Hogamadog to go!

But, I wasn't event close! I had no idea it would it would be something I was actually familiar with as a kid!

Hogamadog: a large ball of snow created by rolling a small one, commonly occurring in snowman-building situations

Fancy way if saying you start out with a small snow ball and just keep rolling it in the snow until it gets big, becoming a Hogamadog!

Toe-cover – a cheap and useless present, this was a popular 1940s slang term

Well, who hasn't gotten or given one of these presents! Although, I will say that socks as a gift would have been  my guess.

Now, they're not so cheap and they're certainly useful. I will admit, I've given a toe-cover gift or two, how about you?

Snerdle – to get wrapped up cozy and warm in bed.

There are many times during the cold weather I've had to snerdle!

So, there are a few words to add to your vocabulary!

Maybe you'd like to add them to your list of What's The Word I'm sure you must already have going!
