What's The Word? Today, It's Two Words! Boxing Day!

What's The Word? Well, this is a date, and two words, but I think it's great to learn traditions around the world and beliefs!

So, today we are featuring, "Boxing Day."

Boxing Day, in Great Britain and some Commonwealth countries, particularly Australia, Canada, and New Zealand,

holiday (December 26) on which servants, tradespeople, and the poor traditionally were presented with gifts.

In the 21st century it had become a day associated with shopping and sporting events.

Boxing Day is celebrated on Sunday, December 26 , 2021 .

Giving bonuses to service employees continues, usually given before Christmas.

Some believe that Boxing Day's origin was the tradition boxes churches for the collection of donations to help the poor,

That date is also the feast day of St. Stephen (St. Stephen's Day).

It commemorates the life of St. Stephen, a Christian deacon in Jerusalem,

known for his service to the poor and was the first Christian martyr (he was stoned to death in AD 36).

So, this is information you may use in a conversation or trivia!
