Asheville Tragedy Kills 3 Family Members in Helene

Asheville -- October 2, 2024: Micah Drye, 6, and his grandparents, Michael and Nora Drye of Asheville, died after their home

collapsed during severe flooding, according to family member Jessica Drye Turner. The incident occurred as heavy floodwaters overwhelmed their house, causing the fatal collapse.

Micah’s mother, Megan Drye, survived the collapse, though the loss of her son and parents has left the family devastated. The flooding, part of recent severe weather in Western North Carolina, has caused significant damage in the region.

Local authorities are continuing to assess the situation, while community members offer support to the grieving family.
