Polk County -- Polk County Police arrested four people took the children and dogs out of the home. 

 

The children were taken by Department of Social Services, animal control took the three dogs. Police were responding to a disturbance call and meth was found in a room where the children were playing, there were firearms in the house. The condition in the house was said to be "horrific" by the police.

The dogs were in a small confined area, no food or water.

Charges:

Erik Kassel  possession of methamphetamine, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, misdemeanor child abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to store a firearm to protect a minor, cruelty to animals and simple possession of schedule II controlled substance. He was taken before the magistrate and was placed under a $17,000 secure bond.

Justin Collins possession of methamphetamine, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, misdemeanor child abuse, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $16,500 secure bond.

Teka Franks possession of methamphetamine, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, misdemeanor child abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and delivery.

Angela Burrell possession of methamphetamine, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, misdemeanor child abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and littering.
